Access
Access to Paparangi is by 4WD vehicle only as tracks are only maintained to this standard.
Access is either from the Motu Falls Road which involves crossing the Motu River at a point just opposite the homestead or through private farmland. Access across the river is the first option but is dependant on water levels.
If you do not have a 4WD vehicle it may be possible for us to arrange transport for you.
Accommodation
Three cabins are situated together beside the Motu River. The cabins sleep 4 to 5 people with a total of 14 beds. They are simple and basic with mattresses, gas cooking, showers and flush toilets provided.
Cost:
$65 per night for hunters (pigs and deer).
Costs for all other groups and non hunters are negotiable.
Hunting
We offer year round exclusive hunting of Red deer and pigs.
Firearms, bows and dogs are all welcome. Goats and possums are abundant and we encourage hunting them in order to help protect the bush.
The Raukumara Forest Park can also be hunted if a permit is first obtained from
the Department of Conservation.
Walking
Altogether there are approximately 30km of old, mainly no exit, logging roads and deer trails that can be explored. The main track from the homestead to the cabins is approximately 5kms long, flat and easy to follow. It winds along beside the Motu River and offers excellent views.
For the more experienced walkers some of the old logging tracks can be connected to form loops. However navigation skills will be required to do this. None of the tracks have any signage to mark the way.
